The São João de Meriti Campus of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ) announced a new selection process for the free specialization in Literacy Practices, scheduled for the year 2027. A total of 20 students will be selected to participate in the course, which will be held in person on Saturdays, from 8 am to 6 pm, at Rua Vala da Divisa, s/n, Coelho da Rocha, in São João de Meriti.
With a duration of 18 months, the specialization will have a total workload of 360 hours, organized into three semesters. In the first semester, students will take subjects such as Literacy Practices and School, Plural Literacies, and Research Methodology in Education, totaling 180 hours. The second semester will include topics such as (Multi)Literacies and Didactic Material, and Scientific Literacy, also with 180 hours of classes. The third semester will be dedicated to the development of the Final Project (TCC I).
Registration Guidelines
The specialization is intended for graduates from various fields who are working or plan to work in Basic Education, provided that their qualifications are recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Registration can be made from August 10 to September 11, 2026, through the official IFRJ website, in the section dealing with postgraduate studies.
