Edital do vestibular Uesb 2027 tem novidades na reserva de vagas

For the year 2027, the State University of Southwest Bahia (Uesb) has already published the announcement for the Entrance Exam, introducing significant changes in the distribution of vacancies. From now on, candidates who choose to participate in affirmative actions will first be evaluated in the open competition, aiming to ensure that the reserved spots really help those in greatest need.

Updated Guidelines for Affirmative Actions

In previous editions of the entrance exam, candidates who opted for reserved spots faced a discreet process, which often resulted in the occupation of spots intended for historically excluded groups by other individuals who could have been accepted in the open competition. This significantly compromised the effective inclusion of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Quilombola students coming from public schools.

According to Robério Rodrigues, rector of Uesb, the new approach seeks to ensure that the reserved spots are indeed occupied by those who truly need them, promoting greater inclusion of students from underrepresented groups in higher education.

Information on the Selection Process

The entrance exam offered by Uesb will feature more than a thousand vacancies distributed across 47 undergraduate courses in various campuses: Itapetinga, Jequié, and Vitória da Conquista. Applications will be made exclusively online, from August 3 to September 30. The registration fee is R$ 110.00, with payment to be made by the first business day after the end of registrations.

The exams are scheduled for November 22 and 23, consisting of a single phase covering subjects from High School and a dissertation-argumentative proposal. Candidates should prepare using mandatory works, including “Mata Doce” by Luciany Aparecida, “Sagarana” by João Guimarães Rosa, and “Raça Humana” by Gilberto Gil.

Fee Exemption and Competition Modalities

For those in need, Uesb offers a fee exemption for the registration, applicable only to those who have not completed any undergraduate course and can prove a connection with public education. The groups entitled to the exemption include students from the University For All program and former students from the public network who attended from the 6th year of Elementary School until the 3rd year of High School.

When registering, candidates must choose the competition modality, where 50% of the vacancies are reserved for students who completed their basic education in public institutions. Within the spots allocated for quotas, 70% are designated for candidates who self-declare as Black, while 30% are available for other origin groups.

Next Steps of the Entrance Exam

After the completion of registrations and payment, the confirmation will be announced on October 7. Uesb reaffirms its commitment to social inclusion and racial equality through these new rules, aiming to facilitate access to education for all segments of society.

Candidates need to pay attention to the deadlines established in Announcement 237/2026 and prepare adequately for the exams. More information can be consulted in the Candidate’s Manual, available on the official Uesb website.
